Omega-Plastics rapid prototype tooling offers 2 alternate ways to get a small number of real plastic parts quickly:
Omega-Plastics was one a pioneer in developing the 'Speed-Base' in 'Master-Base' system. We make a core and a cavity in Aluminium, and then clamp that 'Speed-Base' into the 'Master-Base'. Unlike other rapid prototype tooling companies, Omega-Plastics can do parts up to 200-tonnes and with side cores. This rapid approach is ideal for a few hundred to a few thousand injection mould tools.
This is our fastest service: typically between 2 and 7 days.
Typical cost of an injection mould tool is just a few thousand Euros including plastic injection mouldings.

When the customer requires a component in prototype volumes, but the complexity is from medium to severe, we will manufacture the entire mould tool in aluminium/P20 mix, and design the plastic injection mould to have a number of hand-loaded inserts. The slide-show opposite shows a mould that required a total of 19 hand-loaded inserts. This would be at the extreme end of our rapid tooling prototyping offering and would take up to 4-weeks and cost in the region of EUR 35,000 including 250 mouldings.
Generally, our hand-loading tools take between 1 week and 2.5 weeks to produce.
